The repair process begins as soon as you choose Carstar Douglas Auto Body and Paint to complete your collision repairs. Once you have given us your authorization, your vehicle is sent into production.
Teardown is a term used to describe the dismantling of your vehicle. A preliminary estimate based on visible damage may have been done, but the tear down will sometimes uncover hidden damage. All damage found will be documented with digital pictures and sent to your insurance company.
During the Body and frame phase sheet metal is removed, repaired or replaced. The structure is pulled to correct the dimensional inaccuracies caused by the collision. Separate pulls are required to correct length, height, sway and twist.
In the primer stage, an acid etching rust inhibiting primer is applied. We only use products that meet or exceed the manufacturer’s specifications and are backed by a lifetime paint performance guarantee. Progressively finer sanding grits are to insure a smooth flawless surface free of irregularities such as grease, tar, smudges, silicon. These are contaminants that may inhibit a quality paint application and finish.
Your car is put back together! Moldings and detail pieces are put back on the vehicle. All the vehicle’s systems are checked during this process. The vehicle is almost complete and ready for delivery when it is in this stage.
During the repair process the vehicle accumulates dust from the sanding. We use compressed air as well as a high pressure wash to remove It will be cleaned. It will also be road tested to ensure that everything is working properly. A final inspection will assure that the vehicle is restored to it’s pre-accident condition.
